HIV Positive people in South Africa are not started on antiretroviral therapy until they have a CD4+ count of less than 350 cells/ml.

According to the South African Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi this will change in January of 2015 where HIV positive patients will start antiretroviral therapy at CD4+ count of less than 500 cells/ml
