ViiV Healthcare has collaborated with the International Association for the Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC) to launch the fast-track cities global web portal and city dashboards at #AIDS2016 in Durban South Africa.
The Fast-Track Cities initiative was launched in 2014 to achieve the 90-90-90 targets in communities and cities around the world that have high burdens of HIV within their communities.
What are the 90-90-90 Targets?
By 2020 Fast-Track cities are to achieve the following?
- 90% of people living with HIV know their status
- 90% of people living with HIV who know their status are on antiretroviral therapy
- 90% of people living with HIV and on antiretroviral therapy are virally suppressed
- zero discrimination and stigma in the communities
Michel Sidibe, executive director of UNAIDS said the following
“The world is uniting around the Fast-Track response. The 90–90–90 targets have mobilized extraordinary global efforts and are achieving results. We have a fragile window of opportunity to achieve 90–90–90 by 2020 and lay the foundation to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030.”
