Dr Julio Montaner made a statement at IAS 2015 in Vancouver BC, 20 years after the last major AIDS Conference was held in Vancouver. Dr Montaner, conference co-chair stated that Treatment as Prevention will be the new standard of Care for HIV Treatment.
Michael Sidibe Executive director of UNAIDS. There are now 15 milliom people on antiretroviral Therapy worldwide. 2015 was the global target for 15 million people on ARV and the target was reached 9 months early. This ramp up of global treatment has been able to avert 30 million new infections and 8 million deaths in the last 15 years.
