Prescription Benefit Managers (PBM’s) like Express Scripts, CVS Caremark and OptumRx are running rouge and although congress seems to be trying, their tactics and clandestine behavior are draining the healthcare system.
Contrary to what they want us all to believe how they are saving the health plans money and us as members, this is just not true. When it comes to Specialty Medications like those for HIV and Hepatitis C these PBM’s are forcing members and health insurers to utilize their own “Specialty” pharmacies instead of the members own local trusted pharmacy, where they actually get care.
These behemoths have been sued for discriminating against people with HIV (Anthem Blue Cross, United Healthcare & Cigna….so far)
