ICAAC 2015: Silicone Vaginal Rings Deliver Antiviral Drugs, Protect Women against HIV

Meriam Memmi, PhD candidate at University Jean Monnet of Saint-Etienne, France will discuss her research which led the creation of a new birth control device with additional protective properties against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

STIs of viral origin constitute a major public health concern, notably in women in low income countries, who were shown to be infected with HIV 7 – 10 years earlier than men. The new device will allow these women to master the prevention of STIs.
